Recent topics have included: sex differences in the brain, the changing world of eldercare, drug shortages in hospitals, and the psychology of revenge.

Each week, listeners hear from experts, authors and newsmakers in diverse fields, talking about topics such as business and social media, urban gardening, adult literacy and the new homeless.

Q: How is the program delivered to my station?
A: Affiliates are assigned log-in names and passwords to download our programs as MP3 or .wav files from our FTP site. The programs are posted on Monday of the broadcast week.

Q: Do Radio Health Journal & Viewpoints satisfy FCC compliance?
A: Yes. Our programs address compliancy issues such as: Food Safety, Domestic Violence, Unemployment, Climate Change, Homelessness, Immigration, Business, Poverty, Child Abuse, Government Spending, Women’s Issues, Minority Issues, Public Health, Youth at Risk, Senior Citizens and many more.

Q: Will becoming a Viewpoints or Radio Health Journal affiliate reduce my paperwork headaches?
A: Yes! Our Affiliate Relations team work hard to make paperwork easy for you, with regard to quarterly reports and affidavits. We provide program logs which list the week’s compliancy issues as well as a brief synopsis, and our affidavits can be downloaded from our website and e-mailed back to us. We also e-mail you monthly reminders about affidavits.

Q: But doesn’t the FCC require local programming?
A: No. Contrary to popular misconceptions, nothing in the rules or FCC orders require that the programming be locally produced.  In fact, radio stations may use any programming, wherever acquired, as long as the program addresses the local issues that are relevant to their listening communities.  For example, the issue may be domestic abuse.  Stations could air a Radio Health Journal program addressing the issue of domestic abuse, how communities can deal with the issues, and where abused spouses can go for counseling and shelter.  That program would provide important information to the community responsive to the community issue.

Q: Is there a fee for the programs?
A: No. The programs are free to contracted affiliates. We do accept tips.
