Pat Reuter, Executive Producer, Viewpoints

Pat Reuter has been involved in radio both on-air and behind the scenes for 40 years, beginning in 1970 as a DJ and news reporter for WIUM-FM at Western Illinois University in Macomb. She worked for several commercial stations before landing in Iowa City at WSUI-AM and KSUI-FM at the University of Iowa where she worked as local host for NPR’s “Morning Edition,” and reported on news, health and sports topics. She also covered the crime and court beats for The Daily Iowan newspaper.  In 1989, Pat joined the PIA Radio Network as writer/producer of the long-running public affairs show, “The Northwestern Reviewing Stand.” She came to Mediatracks to help launch “Viewpoints” in 2000, and has served as the show’s executive writer/producer ever since.  She is the recipient of the MADD award for Outstanding Coverage of Underage Drinking Issues, one of two MADD awards Viewpoints has received.

Pat has been deeply involved in politics since the mid-70s, and has served as a campaign worker for local candidates and as a state platform committee member in Iowa.  She is currently working on various projects in her own neighborhood in Chicago, and is an outspoken advocate for transparency in city government.

Pat is also interested in classical and contemporary theater, regularly attending plays at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, and various local playhouses such as the Steppenwolf and Goodman theaters.
